Today, I went to an ATM intending to withdraw $150. I approached the machine, inserted my card, typed in my pin and followed the prompts. When my card came out, I removed it, put it in my pocket and drove off. FML

Hi guys, OP here. To clarify, it wasn't a drive through ATM, I walked back to the car before the money came out. Also to those asking how I managed to do such a careless thing - I had just had a stressful day at work on the closing shift so my mind wasn't with it. I'm lucky I have a loving family that can support me until my next pay day. And I hope I just hope the money ended up in hands that needed it more than myself.

Maybe, if you are lucky, you will not loose your money and I explain. ATMs take back, after a while, the money or the card if one of these is left without being taken. So if noone used the machine within the next 30 seconds no problem. Make sure that you talk with the bank that owns the specific ATM. Good Luck!

Almost did the same thing, except I was getting cash-back at the self-checkout in a grocery store. Picked up my groceries and completely forgot about the $60 I'd asked for. Luckily the attendant noticed and chased after me.

In saying that, I am not expecting some miracle act of Karma to happen to me. I didn't intend for it to go to someone less fortunate so I shouldn't expect to be rewarded. It sucks but I get paid weekly so it isn't too bad. :)

you can contact the bank ask for refund of ur cash if the money been taken back by the maschine(after like 10sec so) n no one else took it. happened to me b4 n got my cash back

I'm with 103. Contact your bank. Also, it's very likely no one else took it and the ATM kept the money. It only allows a few seconds before taking it back in, for exactly this reason. However, not all ATM's or banks automatically credit your account back. Going to a branch in person is best. Hope you get your money back.

this happened to my mom once. it turns out that if you don't take your cash out, it wait a certain amount of time and then pulls it back in, crediting it back to your account. if there was no one waiting in line behind you, it's possible that this happened! check your balance :)

That's only if it's a machine that "holds the money" not drops it in a tray. My bank has an ATM that holds the money but all the other ATMs have a tray the money drops into.

OP don't feel stupid, I work in a bank and this happens on a very regular basis. Contact your bank then the ATM is counted and the money put back into your account so long as no one after you took it which is highly unlikely since it is sucked back in within 15 seconds :)
