Today, I went to my father for advice. I've been seeing a wonderful girl for the past month, and I feel terrible about it, because I already have a girlfriend. He said "Kill yourself" and that if I "can't even do that right" then to get out of his house, because he disowns me. FML

I'm going to hate for this, but just hear me out: He did something wrong. It's a dick move to cheat on your girlfriend. We know this. But to hear your DAD tell you to KILL YOURSELF? Do you understand what that feels like? People throw around that term like it has no meaning, but for someone who is depressed, or has had suicidal thoughts, someone saying that to you is devastating. And even if you're not, that's still a pretty mean thing to say. Also, he went to his dad for HELP. He felt bad, which doesn't make it ok, but he wanted help, and his dad wouldn't give it to him. If his dad talked to him, had a heart to heart, he could have gotten him to do the right thing. This guy cheated, which is wrong. I don't sympathize for that, but for trying to open up to your dad and having him shoot you down like that.... He might not deserve to get let off easy, but he didn't deserve THAT.

#294 he wouldn't be in this situation if he didn't do that to begin with. He brought this on himself. What he's doing is wrong, yes he may not deserve to hear that, but ever stop to think how this could affect his girlfriend if she found out. This might also affect her in the long wrong.
