Today, I went to my father's house to get my dog, since I had left it with him while I was on a business trip. When I got there, my dad said the dog pooped on the floor a few days ago, and so he took him to the pound. FML

Maybe if you can go to the pound and explain the situation to them, they'll let you have your dog back? Either way, I think you should talk to your father and tell him that that's not okay. You know, like a 5 year old. Or spray him with a water bottle, you know, like a cat.

If my father did something like that I would straight up LOSE IT. Aside from the fact that dogs can cost anywhere from free, averaging around $150, and up to $10,000, so that's a wide range of money you could've lost just in the dog itself not including upkeep. Your dad gave away a pet that I assume you love very much, for doing something that housetrained dogs only do when either sick or the person watching them didn't bother to let them out. I would tell my dad that if I don't get my dog back (and he is paying for any incurred expenses), I will take him to court for giving away my damn dog(especially if it was euthanized). I'd never speak to him again either. ik there are some people that aren't as "into" animals as I am and will be like oh it's just a dog, it's your father! you have to speak to him, blah blah. Just because they cared for me and my mom gave me life doesn't mean that they can do what they like to the things in my life. They will live with the choices they make.

Oh my gosh. I would never ever forgive him for that. Cut him out of your life immediately and if you ever have kids some day for the love of Bob never let him babysit. I do sincerely hope you get your dog back. p.s. people think I'm crazy for not going on vacations, but it's stuff like this that make me paranoid to leave my pets with anyone. Obviously not OPs fault, but just saying.

I HATE hearing about people who would do that to a dog. I have a puppy that I adopted after raising him under my foster care and if my dad or my stepdad did that? I'd lose it. Completely. I would search for my dog and downright cry if I lost him like that. I hope you get your pup back OP, and I hope your pup is super happy to see you.
