I'm with Nixot, sort of :P I can cope with Americans saying gas instead of petrol, but I get annoyed at gasoline instead of petroleum. Probably because I take Chemistry >.> Oh, and what do you guys call diesel?
We refer to diesel as diesel, but nobody in the states uses petrol or petroleum. Unless referring to Vaseline. >_> Plenty of people here take chemistry and recognize that yes, it's technically petroleum, but it's just an idiom. It's not really the end of the world.
Shokz and postlude, You both fail at chemistry. Petroleum (literally "rock oil") is crude oil which can contain up to about a thousand different organic compounds. Some count the natural gas included as part of the petroleum, but others say it is only the liquid part. This liquids range from light, volatile compounds to waxes, paraffins and asphalts. Gasoline (or petrol) is a blend of the light volatile compounds that combusts under certain conditions. It is not a single molecule (neither is diesel fuel), although a version of octane is used as a reference to measure performance. While you didn't do well at chemistry today, you both look like Antoine Frickin' Lavoisier compared to the idiot who bought a 31-year-old "fried-out combie" and expected no trouble. ;)
that guy is a horrible redneck, the gas tanks should be made of duct tape
Hnngh. This is not a. Proper sentence structure. As for the car, you deserve it for not getting it checked. Or at least checking it yourself. Oh, great. Now you've got me. Doing it.
Ahhh, I was gonna. Say that! OP, work on your. Sentences, they are awful.
See? I fixed it!
carfax?
Looks like you've got yourself a project there! Hopefully you're a clued-in VW fan or at least know a good mechanic; you're in for a lot of maintenance work with a bus like that.
