Today, I went to the doctor after being sick for weeks. I found out that I had bronchitis that then progressed to pneumonia. My girlfriend is hearing impaired, and when I can finally get words to come out when I speak, she can't understand them. I'm not sure who I feel more sorry for. FML

Maybe try using a whiteboard until you get your voice back, feel better.

That stinks OP! Hopefully it will get better!

Pneumonia can be a virus too. Maybe you should check your facts.

What's the big deal? Get yourself a small white board for the interim.

I hope you get better soon bro/sis (if you're lesbian idk)

Thanks for all of the supportive comments! For Clarification: I had been to the doctors previously, and they refused to listen to me the first time. They told me that I had a cold, and treated it as such, despite telling them how sick I was at the time. My girlfriend can't hear much without her hearing aids, and even with them in, she has had trouble understanding me the past few days. My voice has been very raspy when I can actually manage to talk, which takes great effort as it is due to being so sick. So, it has been very hard for her to understand me, and equally as frustrating for me to attempt to speak clearly when the words just don't want to come out. In the end, when needed we have been texting back and forth. I'm slowly starting to get a bit better, thank God.

Did you ever consider writing it down?

Ugh I had that 2 years ago ! It was the worst!! I used sticky notes

Time to consider taking some ASL classes together. An excellent bonding experience and then you'll both be better able to communicate with each other in all circumstances. It's a wonderful opportunity. Until then, thank goodness for white boards, texting and pens!

We're definitely planning on taking some sign language classes together in the future as soon as we have the chance to do so!
