Today, I went to the dorm showers to use the facilities. As I was getting in the shower, I slipped and landed face first into a puddle. It wasn't water. FML

Well that's s double wammy, slipping and smashing your face into what I'm assuming was a tiled floor that has had hundreds of feet on it sucks. But landing in what I have to assume was urine or something equally vile is just down right shitty.

Um......I work in a hospital......urine is NOT sterile. In fact, there are some particularly nasty things in some urine that are very hard to kill. Best of luck to OP's face though.....I'd give it an FYL for sure!

That's because you work in a hospital - people there are sick and may have UTIs. Most healthy people's urine is sterile - the bladder is a sterile cavity. That's why you have to use sterile technique instead of clean technique when catheterizing someone. It is a big deal if you get bacteria into a sterile cavity because you can cause some nasty infections that way.
