Today, I went to the hospital for stomach pains, and was told that it sounds like I have an ovarian cyst. My mom went into a rage, screaming that I'd lied to her about being a virgin. Despite the doctor explaining that sexual activity has nothing to do with it, she refuses to believe him. FML

2- My mother did eventually understand you can get it while still being a virgin. She thought the doctor was covering for me so I wouldn't have to tell her I was sexually active. When we got home we looked up articles and I proved it to her. Either way, I'm still going to be in a crap load of pain when these puppies burst if they decide not to remove them...

Moms sheesh. My friend had an ovarian cyst a size of a football (or so she claimed). I hope it isn't too bad.

I can see them swelling to the size of a baseball maybe a softball but no bigger. I have the actual disease part where I can pretty much count on a cyst growing and popping once a month if not more. I've done a lot of research.

unfortunately they can grow really large. I used to get ones that popped (flipping excruiciating) then i went onto birth control. Unfortunately when i came off them to get pregnant a cyst started growing and was there throughout the pregnancy. By the time they removed the cyst it was huge (not quite football sized tho :) ) and had three little friends with it. Thamkfully the OP if it is needed is a doddle, keyhole surgery and everything :)

My little sister and I both have that. Mine are small and don't cause many problems but my sister's ruptured and she had internal bleeding so be sure to go to the doctor ASAP if you start hurting too much. P.S. your mon is a bitch. Those things can kill you. Her concern should be for your life!!!!!!

I had an ovarian cyst the size of a grapefruit several years ago. It grew over time because it took the doctors ages to actually diagnose it. (Over a year!) It hurt like a mother when it burst, which was often. Had it removed and it hasn't grown back. I hope your situation is a lot less painful, OP. Good luck.

Omg I've gotten one of those before, gosh they hurt like a bitch! And sorry to hear about your mom, mine works in the health field so she was understanding anyway that sucks

Your mom sucks! My sister was 10 when she had her ovarian cyst removed. It crushed her ovary for some time. Hope everything works out for you

They suck to high heaven. I have a hard time with certain clothes because of mine. Too much pressure near it the pain gets worse. We opted to leave it because it's small right now and I'm dealing with enough of medical crap. Feel better soon.

my friend lost an ovary due to a massive cyst and they thought there was one in the other ovary but it disappeared. These cysts are no joke...
