Today, I went to the hospital for stomach pains, and was told that it sounds like I have an ovarian cyst. My mom went into a rage, screaming that I'd lied to her about being a virgin. Despite the doctor explaining that sexual activity has nothing to do with it, she refuses to believe him. FML

2- My mother did eventually understand you can get it while still being a virgin. She thought the doctor was covering for me so I wouldn't have to tell her I was sexually active. When we got home we looked up articles and I proved it to her. Either way, I'm still going to be in a crap load of pain when these puppies burst if they decide not to remove them...

I have polycystic ovarian syndrome, is it that? I get pains in my stomach but theres nothing they can really do just got to take the pill which sucks

Some people can have just one cyst on their ovaries. From my understanding after my research on PCOS after I was diagnosed was a case of PCOS can only be determined and confirmed after a ultrasound where 30+ cyst are found on each ovary along with a hormone blood test that shows high levels of testosterone. I have a few friends who have just the one or two cyst on one ovary and have been tested with negative results dismissing a case of PCOS.

Wow that's pretty ridiculous. Women gets ovarian cysts when they ovulate, and sex has nothing to do with it. Guess you must have had some pretty big ones or something. At least she understands now.

Op I've been there with my mom not believing I was a virgin cause of crotch problems. It sucks big time. Not something you need to deal with on top of the health issues. *hugs* Hope things get better for you.

FYL OP. I got diagnosed with PCOS the day after my 17th birthday. A little over 7 years ago. My cyst was larger than a can of soda. Hope you feel better soon and that you don't have to have surgery.

Yes. A circumcision only happens once. Cysts that require surgery can happen several times in a woman's lifetime. Not only are the cysts painful, but the surgery to remove them is also extremely painful.

Last year I went to the et because I was having pains and my dad thought it was appendicitis. Turns out it was an ovarian cyst. Don't worry, it stops hurting after a little while and the times that the pain comes back are few and far between. Keep your head up.
