This is stupid advice. Why would you advocate that somebody lose their source of income, just because a manager jokingly insulted them (or ridiculed them, whatever) for it? For one, it's not illegal to "ridicule" someone. It's only illegal to actually THREATEN TO FIRE or FIRE someone for not coming in to work, when they have a genuinely proven medical problem. (Even then, if it's ongoing and proves they can't do their job duties long term, you can fire them.) For two, we have freedom of speech. In regards to #1. For three, stop being such a snowflake. Why would you recommend they quit a job, which is their primary source of income and how they feed themselves and their families, just because of "ridiculing" which probably amounted to the boss just not believing they had a migraine, or calling them a pansy, etc? So freaking what? Obviously, the boss feels stupid now and realizes they were wrong. Obviously, there ARE a lot of people who DO fake illnesses (probably snowflakes like yourself, to be quite honest). Obviously, a boss is LOSING MONEY when someone calls in sick, money that comes out of the BOSSES pocket, money away from the BOSSES wife and children and daughter and family, so of course they are going to be careful to make sure you are ACTUALLY SICK if you are calling out. I mean, duh. What do you expect? Do you expect the entire world to revolve around you? Do you think the boss can just throw you money constantly and have it not effect him at all? Do you realize that the entire purpose of anybody being hired, is to make the boss more money than he is paying you? That's what drives our entire economy. Anyway, wake the hell up, stop being such a snowflake, grow a thicker skin, or else you simply will not survive as a free citizen. Which explains why so many pathetic people are pushing Marxism/socialism and totalitarian government now. Many people literally cannot function effectively in a free society anymore. They need a nanny state.

With that said- nobody is denying that the OP was sick, and the OP has my sympathies. But, wanna know what is even worse than being sick? Not having a job, and being a welfare sponge. That's worse. Not only is it worse for society, but it's worse for you as an individual, as it robs you of your dignity, your ability to learn, grow and better yourself, and your ability to be upwardly mobile. So shame on you for advocating they quit a job, without responsibly having another better job already lined up. IF they quit, it should ONLY, EVER be after they have another better job lined up. PE-RI-OD. The only 2 exceptions are if their life or health are greatly in danger, or if they are being sexually harassed or sexually assaulted. Literally the only 2 exceptions. Verbal abuse? So f*cking what! Grow up! It happens!
