Today, I woke up to my little sister strangling me. My parents accused me of making the red marks on my throat myself to exaggerate how bad it was. She's just "going through a phase", they say, and I'm a bad person for punching her to get her off me. FML

Today, my 7-year-old sister had a nightmare, so I let her sleep in my bed. I woke up to her punching me in the face and giving me a black eye. Apparently, she not only screams when she's having a nightmare, she also "gives the bad guy a taste of his own medicine." FML

Today, my little sister chased me around the house with a mallet, giggling like a maniac. I ended up having to pin her to the ground, rip the mallet out of her hand and lock her in the bathroom. This isn't the first time. My mom still insists it's perfectly normal. FML

Today, I was sitting on my younger sister's bed while I was on my phone. She came in the room and pushed me off the bed, and I ended up slicing the skin under my eye. Now, my parents are forcing me to pay for the injury for "hanging off the bed". FML

No, I got accused of being hit by a forklift on purpose to ruin her birthday party, then she tried to rip my bandages off to "prove I was faking the whole thing" and split my stitches. FML

How old is your sister? Even if I knew and it was still a small child, I do not believe it's appropriate behaviour for any child to be doing that and should not just be shrugged off as a phase.

Reminds of the story I read of an 11 year old stabbing her 8 yr old sister to death over being jealous of recognition for chores. She woke up early before school, stabbed her sister, called 911 and said a mexican broke in and stabbed her sister. Hey OP, invest in some security equipment or kevlar.

No, the sister should be punished, OP. You did the right thing. If the marks are still there, put your sister's hand on one in front of your parents. They'll see they are the same size, unless you two have similar hand sizes. Strangling people is not a phase and needs to be dealt with accordingly.
