Today, I worked up the confidence to go to the mall alone for the first time since being confined to a wheelchair. It didn't even take 20 minutes before some teenager grabbed my wheelchair and tried to race me around, all while his friends watched and laughed. FML

What a bunch of disrespectful pieces of shit. I'm sorry you had to deal with that, OP.

This has to be one of the most ****** up FMLs I've seen. I can't even comprehend why anyone would do that. I'm so sorry OP! I hope your faith in humanity hasn't completely vanished, though it's understandable if it has...

Wow... I get some teens can be total douchebags, but this is completely ****** up. Those kids were obviously not raised right. What went on in their heads to make them think that was okay? I mean, not only are they strangers to you, they could have seriously hurt you all in their twisted idea of fun. I hope that if you can press charges, you do. It should teach them a lesson.

Why always blaming the parents?? Kids have their own brains, they take their decisions, they make their own choices. A lot of them are just full-of-shit human beings, and grow into the many dick-heads adults we see plenty around. This constant deresponsibilisation of kids is exactly what makes them feel they can do anything it pleases them.

Parents usually teach right from wrong. That's why I said they obviously weren't raised right. No, that doesn't mean they aren't responsible for their actions.

As a teen I know some parents who are the sweetest people on earth, but their kids (my classmates) turn out horribly. And if those parents knew the kind of things they do, they'd probably be furious. But the thing is all of those teens get together (usually teen boys), someone suggests something terrible/stupid, they all talk each other up and then they do it. Nothing the parents can do to stop it.

Really? That's your biggest concern?.. I'm sorry OP, that is so disrespectful and sick minded.

#31 the shops, the centre, the plaza. depends on the name of the actual complex. most of us do not have a tendency to call it 'the mall'.

OP might have said "the mall" so everyone would get the context of what they were saying

There are a number of places here that are called <something> Mall, so why not refer to it so?

Please tell me someone helped you. I would be screaming bloody murder if someone did that to me if I was in a wheelchair. Honestly who in their right mind would do such a thing? What is wrong with people? OP I seriously hope you're ok and not injured physical and/or mentally. Such an awful thing to happen. I hope you can get past this and keep working on getting out. Maybe next time go with a group of people.

Tell a security guard. It'll be on camera

Definitely get the footage from the cameras and take it to the police. Hopefully they can find out who the teens are by what shops they went it to, and if they bought anything they should be able to find out who they are. These teens deserve to be punished or they'll never learn. Stupid stunts like this deserve consequences and they need to learn that now!

Put your hands brakes on and duck! When I had to use a wheelchair, I had bullies trying to slam my broken leg into lockers. So I slammed their faces into lockers. Also, keep pepper spray.

TAntobella 14

The pepper spray is an excellent idea. If they grabb and push a weelchair their face is close enough to be reached by the spray

God, people are so sick. I'm sorry you have to be an expert on this.

These are great ideas. However I find it absolutely sick that you need any of this.

We live in a very cruel world im sorry that happened but i'm a believer in carma and one day those brats will get what's comin to them.

I am blind, and I have had my Kane taken away from me by bratty ass kids. It's not fun. I'm sorry they did that to you, I understand. I honestly feel bad for those kids, because there is something wrong with them. I pray that people like that learn better. Sadly, some of them don't.

I am assuming someone else is writing this for you then?

@32: Or maybe there is braille, or a voice receiver that they use, etc. Not all blind people are incapable of doing things on their own, you know.

@ #32 there are also varying degrees of blind. my grandmother is legally blind, uses a cane, but can dial a phone, type, etc. it takes a while but she can read things

@ 32 : There is a ton of software out there that blind people use that allows them to use computers and the Internet just as well as anyone else. A buddy of mine, who is 100% blind, has a Facebook account and uses it normally. Also many websites are ADA compliant. Government websites have to be.

@ 23: I am so sorry that someone took your cane. What a horrible, miserable person that must be to steal someone's cane! Cheers to you!
