Today, in my architecture class, my professor's lecture consisted of a list of movies and books which feature characters who are architects. I couldn't leave because I needed the attendance points, and it lasted 45 minutes. I paid out of state tuition for this. FML

Today, I drove to my college campus for my 8 a.m. class, parked, walked the mile and a half to my classroom, just to find out class had been cancelled. The prof didn't send an email because she couldn't remember her password. I paid $1200 to be taught by this woman, who has a doctorate. FML

Today, I had to go meet my professor at 12. I wound up showing up almost an hour late. Why? Because she doesn't teach at the campus I registered at. I wound up having to visit TWO different campuses before I reached the right one. FML

Today, my professor let a guy into my philosophy class 30 minutes late because his excuse was, "Time is just an illusion." This is the same professor that kicked me out of the classroom for being 2 minutes late. FML

Today, after attending lectures for months, studying for weeks, and spending hours writing a 15-page research paper, I was informed that due to technological issues during registration, I was not enrolled in the class. FML

Today, I found out that I have to take a weekly workshop outside of class time all semester, and it's only offered on the day I have the most work hours. I barely make ends meet as it is, but the professor said to figure it out or fail. FML

Today, we watched a movie in class. Afterwards, the professor asked us what we thought. I raised my hand and said it was pretentious, dull and a really poor example of filmmaking. It was the movie HE spent five years writing and directing. FML

Today, I finally found out why I got a D in a class last semester. It was a heavily attendance-based class, and apparently he only marked you present if you participated in class discussion. It was a 100-seat lecture. FML

Today, I decided to show up to my new class an hour early, to be able to choose my seat, and figure out how the computer lab works… only to find out that the lab was locked and I had to wait until the professor unlocked it. FML

Yeah, that Howard Roark was one of the craziest bastards in literature. I took the Taliesin tour. The takeaway is that Frank Lloyd Wright was a genius and a prick.

I'm in a class for 4 hours listening to my teacher talk about things she doesn't know about. I have to learn everything on my own during and after class and I still don't do well since half the words aren't in the book we had to buy.

Seriously, as an architect who's only 5 years out of school, here's some advice: If you think that was a waste of your time, you're in the wrong profession-- that type of discussion doesn't end in the real world. Your professor knows what he's doing by giving that lecture!

Considering that most of your college years will consist of building awesome dollhouses, this seems like one of the least wasteful activities you'll be doing. And if the money you are spending offends you, keep in mind you've chosen the lowest-paid profession.
