Today, it's been five days since my roommate last talked to me. Although she's not communicating with me verbally, she's excelling at non-verbal communication: slamming doors and drawers, and watching loud videos, all while I desperately try to study. FML

I am a little curious as to what happened to cause this behaviour. OP, would you be so kind and enlighten us? PS; earplugs are cheap and effective.

There's not enough info here to vote one way or the other. Obviously you did something/something happened to piss her off, the question is whatever it was, did it warrant her response? For example, if you accidentally threw away her candy bar, that would be an fyl. But if you wrecked her car or slept with her boyfriend or something, then you might just deserve it. Hmm. We need a follow-up here!

I voted both but I imagine she may deserve it more simply because she left out the reason her roommate was acting this way

Try to find another place to stay, since your roommate isn't speaking to you, just leave without telling her.

Try and start a conversation with her and ask why she's acting this way. If you're not the cause of it, something else could be bothering her. Good luck with the studying!

I would try a little "non-verbal" communication of my own, like a nice punch in the face or good swift kick in the ass. It's your apartment too, you don't have to take that kind of shit....

Hey everyone thanks for all the support. To clear up a few things: 1. I live in a college dorm, so I share a small room with one other person 2. I have tried to talk to my roommate, I asked her if there was tension between us and if I was doing something that was upsetting her. Her response was that she was fine. Ever since I have asked this she has not talked to me so clearly she is not "fine." 3. She does a lot of other things not only when I am studying, but when I am sleeping as well. 4. Also, I have not stolen her boyfriend, crashed her car, taken her stuff, eaten her food, or anything major that has been suggested. Thank you to everyone who has been so sweet I have really learned a lot from this experience, mostly that you never really know someone until you live with them.

See now I feel okay to vote! Sounds like you just have a crazy roommate, sorry OP! We all have to have at least one at some point in our lives haha!

Sounds like my roommate. Except it's been going on for 5 months and now I don't really bother talking to her either.

I've been dealing with the same shit from my boyfriend's little sister, whom we live in the same house with. She does it when my toddler is sleeping. She decided she doesn't like me because I don't keep the house to her standard of clean, which she has never bothered to explain to me, and I do all the cleaning.
