Today, it's my third night of finally living on my own in a house. I can't count the number of times I have run to my knife and pepper spray after hearing "suspicious" sounds. Maybe I'm not ready to be an adult after all. FML

call a friend over fora night or two! or get a dog, he'll keep ya safe :)

Maybe if you get to know your neighbors it may help or accept the fact there are ghosts at your place and just welcome them

Get a dog, they will check that shit out and let you know if you need to get that knife! I can only sleep at night with my headphones on as I know my dogs will let me know if something is up...

Don't worry about it. I have lived alone for 3 years and still sometimes jump at noises. Because you don't have anything the blame them on or anything to protect you from them. Maybe think about getting a dog or a cheap security system. I found one that's only 25 bucks a month to be monitored. It's geared toward renters, perfect for apartments and gives me so much peace of mind.

That's normal. Bless your house & out a chair under the door handle. =)

Just get a gun license and few guns to hide around the house. If there is anyone there that you don't know about then you have the legal right to shoot. That can make your home feel so much safer. If you want get a security system too. Peace of mind, right?

a lot if the horror movies center around people who live alone and/or big houses. but those are just movies

I'm surprised no one else thought ghost/demon... quick OP load up on salt and seal the entrances!

If you are really feeling strange in your new home, burning sage is good for clearing bad energy. Don't get an animal only to soothe yourself-- only get a pet if you can afford one and take good care of it.

To the op I feel for you That what I worry will happen to me if one day move out on my own And for me I can't get a dog since I have cats

I'm the same way... =( It's embarassing to admit it, but at least the fear is understandable, unlike other phobias like ballons or names or being watched by a duck...
