OP, I can honestly relate. Within a week of moving into my first flat, some douche put my window through. I was sixteen and alone and I swear I've never been more terrified in my life. What I can tell you, though, is that even after that, it only took me about two months to settle in properly. Living alone for the first time is scary, but it's only scary for a short time. You'll get used to it before you've even realised. :)
First night in my flat, the front door was a bit rattly. Freaked me out. Heard someone come in, grabbed the nearest heavy object, and nearly brained my housemate with a frying pan.
Adults are allowed to be creeped out by living alone too! I'm 23, have lived in my current place for 2 years now, and I still freak out a little when I hear odd sounds at night. It doesn't help that this place was built in about 1920, so it tends to creak quite a bit.
It's one of those things that doesn't really go away. You just get use to it. I've been on my own for quite sometime, and noises in the night still get to me. Maybe a pet to keep you company? Hope everything works out!
Perhaps find a buddy who needs a roommate.
That is me
Dont worry, I think that pretty normal for living on your own for the first time. :) I'm sure everyone get like that, you b fine after a couple of weeks. :)
I recommend that you read "the rats in the walls" by H.P. lovecraft - afterwards you'll never have to run and get your knife and pepper spray, as you'll be sleeping with them grasped tightly in your hands.

call a friend over fora night or two! or get a dog, he'll keep ya safe :)
Maybe if you get to know your neighbors it may help or accept the fact there are ghosts at your place and just welcome them
