Today, like every day since my wife was prescribed antibiotics for an infection, I had to hide one of the pills inside her food, because she'd apparently rather fall seriously ill than swallow them like an adult. FML

You would think with all our technology they would make all pills in gummy form by now. Problem solved

Well, I hope she isn't taking them at a different time and overdosing. If not, that's kind of childish (if she dislikes swallowing pills) unless she doesn't believe in medicine and whatnot.

I don't understand how so many people think this is "childish". I used to have a fear of swallowing pills because I thought I would choke on them. Maybe something traumatic happened to her or she has the same fear. She should have just tried to get a different form of the medicine.

It's nice to see how you're more concerned of your wife's infection more than she is. I hope you guys have a happy marriage :-)

All I've seen is comments about not being able to swallow pills, nowhere did OP say his wife couldn't swallow pills but rather she just refuses to take them. OP is being a good husband but it's morally wrong to give someone meds without their knowledge and if his wife just wants to be a big baby and not take the medicine to make her better I say let her get sick and maybe she'll grow up and realize she was giving the medication to help her and not to hurt her....haven't you ever heard of tough love people???

The drawback to "tough love" is that some people are just too lazy or stubborn to care, no matter what the consequences will be. My dad is one of them, and it infuriates me- he has multiple conditions that could (and probably will) kill him, but can be dramatically improved or even cured with a healthier diet and a reasonable amount of exercise. Guess what he insists isn't necessary? Instead, he's going to kill himself with laziness and blame genetics or "bad luck" because that's easier than actually doing something. This is even after 5 hospitalizations in the same year, and constantly complaining that he doesn't feel well (hmm... I wonder why that could be?). Some people just don't want to help themselves. If anyone knows of a way to hide "healthy diet and exercise" in a doughnut, let me know.

I could understand why. She might had been afraid that she will get an addiction to the pills, a lot of people did.
