Where do you work? You're not obligated to work when you're not scheduled in the vast majority of places.
Mention the day before that you're going somewhere (too far away to come in). Whether you are or not.
Easy to say not answer phone. However, if you NEED the job, you eat sh*t and continue to pay rent, utilities, food, etc.
The bright side is the extra money though, but yes if you are getting run down you need to put yourself first.
Why are they let off the hook and you aren't, though?
In Sweden we have a law that you are supposed to have at least 36 hours of consecutive rest every seven days. *laughs in socialism* Seriously though, if you don't wanna say no, just ignore the calls and tell them your phone was acting up.
Why do these other people still have jobs at this place if they never show up for work?
If everyone else can get away with not showing up, then you should also be able to get away with not showing up.

Stop answering the damn phone
I've been in the same situation quite a bit. There comes a time when you need to just say no (if you're not in a position where you're required to pick up shifts) or you'll burn out. Self care is important too!
