Today, my 13-year-old sister told me that she wants to get pregnant soon to stop her periods for a while. I can't believe we're related. FML

Hey guys OP here. I'm a little late on the follow up but here it is anyway. I obviously complained to my mum who sat her down and told her how painful her pregnancies had been. My sister seemed adequately scared. My sister now insists that she had just been kidding but I know for a fact that she wasn't. And finally I assure you guys if she ever brings a guy home to 'stop her periods' I will personally get rid of him.

Did you explain to her that being pregnant and going through labor is 100x worse than getting a period? And the fact that raising a child isn't exactly a piece of cake either?

No thirteen year old kid should be thinking about getting pregnant

When I was 13 i bled for 10 months almost straight. Those words never even came to THOUGHT.

*THOUGHT. Why does FML cut out the last word?

I'm currently 6 mo. pregnant and despising every moment. It feels like your hips are getting torn apart and your back feels like it's folding in on itself. Everything hurts and I was in the ER last week for torn ligaments in my right thigh. Tell your sister she'll miss the mild pain of periods if she gets pregnant.

Doesn't some birth control pills do that? She needs to be thought how hard it is to have a kid.

They don't actually stop periods. They do regulate periods and hormone levels, so they might help if that's her reason for saying this.

There's none that stop it completely but if you take Seasonale you only get your period 4 times a year.

get her on the DEPO Shot...NOW.

Sounds like she's got hellish periods, and is desperate to avoid that, and only knows of one way to achieve that goal. Probably she should look into some hormone control to ease things up. Periods suck, especially at the beginning, I'd love to stop mine entirely.

wow hope you had a good talk with her way to young to be thinking that

That is a pretty reasonable though. I gave those from time to time.

Let her know that after you have a baby you get your period for 4-6 weeks straight and remind her of the labor pains that should fix that

Tell her kids can be annoying as **** at times. Im a father of 3 year old twins and they drive me crazy
