26 and living with your parents and not being able to throw a birthday party.... that's sad. Fml.
Ok, let's break this down a bit: What if he's still college student ? Masters/Ph.D - if you're in science department...you're pretty much have to otherwise your B.S. doesn't mean a squat If he moves out the he would need to get a student loan (let's face it - working part time will not provide you with roof over your head, food and clothing). By getting student loan that would also cover rent, tuition fee and other costs = that shit is pretty much like mortgage, you'll pay it off when you're 50-60 (given that OP goes to decent school and not to the one of those crappy community college)
your life both sucks and you deserved it
Ph.D. probably, not sure (didn't do it...yet), but masters - yeah quite a lot of people have to pay for master programs (and it is especially expensive if you're working towards MBA)
In my university to get scholarship for masters in my field you have to have GPA of 3.7-4.0, it is very competitive. Even if you got scholarship you may easily lose it in a semester due to job to support yourself (apartment that about an hour bus ride to school is in the range of $1800/month in my area). Some of the people above suggested to get a roomate...well to be honest I would rather live with my parents when I will be 26 than to live with a person I don't really know. There is an option to get a dorm, but again there are some people that would rather stay with parents than live in a dorm.
Take out some loans for the MBA. Most people going for an MBA have been working for a few years and have money saved up. You should be able to make decent loan payments on the salary you earn after an MBA. I don't know any Masters students that pay tuition. If you can't find any scholarships/assistantships/fellowships you probably aren't very good at what you do and should reconsider whether this field of study is appropriate for you. Or your school is not willing to put money towards your program. If that's the case your program probably isn't too great.
I can tell that a lot of responders did not go the college/university themselves :) I go to decent university and I know that every other student is in similar situation - it is impossible to work full time and study full time :) Those who live by themselves, usually have rich-er parents ;)
Time to leave the nest you late bloomer.....
You're 26, I don't understand this, you must never have parties for your parents to break it up. And, you must be a complete loser if you still let them send you to your room when you get in trouble.
Your parents are so strict because they're hoping and praying you'll TAKE THE ******* HINT and move out. God, don't make them kill you.
There are two possibilities here. 1)You are a college student or a recently laid off employee who is living with his parents to save up to finally get out on your own. 2) You are a moocher who never went to college or partied all of college and is still living at home with mommy and daddy because life hit you too hard in the ass. Either way YDI. 1) YDI because you're living under some one else's roof so you need to remember that it's not your house. 2) YDI because you need your own place so man up and get a job.
jeez, im 17 and I don't live with my parents
