Today, my 6 ft snake got loose. I found it. It was in my neighbor's backyard, constricting their pet rabbit. FML

My 6 foot snake constricted your mom last night

You had better make amends to your neighbors, you piece of shit. You just took away a family pet so you can keep a 6 FOOT SNAKE IN YOUR HOUSE. It's your responsibility to make sure your exotic pet, which you really shouldn't even own in the first place, doesn't **** up other peoples lives.

Who the **** do you think you are owning a 6 foot snake? YDI x 10000000

most big dog breeds are actually more deadly than 6" snakes and the only way that could be untrue is if the snake is poisonous and the snake isn't poisonous, so its still less dangerous than some dogs breeds. Think through what you say then say it.

ydi... your neighbour and rabbit didn't. you're obviously a bad pet owner whom can't handle the responsibilty of a snake. I certainly hope you come clean to the neighbors if no one saw otherwise you're not just incompettant you're a incompetant ass.

that snake better have been put down to appease the neighbors...

@#57 What the ****? The snake should be put down? If that would "appease" the neighbors, then they're horrible people. The snake should be taken away from the OP and given to a responsible owner.

Note to self--Make sure nobody within a 5 block radius owns a snake so that my lop bunny is safe from idiots like this. Snake cages have locks for a reason. There should be no reason they could get out, unless you didn't lock it, or you're one of those dumbass that prefers to just put a small weight on the lid of the cage rather than installing a proper lock. I'm starting to wonder if you got sued by the rabbit owners. If not for the loss of their pet, the emotional trauma should be more than enough. If I caught a snake constricting my little Simon, I'd shoot the snake to defend it! Once it starts constricting, it's damned near impossible to loosen the grip!

this is fake. Who the heck keeps a pet rabbit in the backyard it will obviously run away. As for the snake, people who keeps snakes as pets are weird in generally, usually have issues or are mentally disturbed. If its a garden snake its not a big deal. But if its a constrictor, which it seems like its only a matter of time before it turns on you

You obviously haven't been reading any comments on this, then. There ARE rabbit owners who let their rabbits run about in the backyard. :|

@#68 You are a prejudiced, ignorant dumbass. "people who keeps snakes as pets are weird in generally, usually have issues or are mentally disturbed. " Really? That's strange, because I keep snakes and I know plenty of other people who keep them, and only a small fraction of them are "weird", but that's to be expected of any hobby; some people will get too into it and get weird. I don't even know what the **** you are talking about with the mental issues, you're obviously one of the pieces of shit who would lobby to ban all snakes without any knowledge.

"Weird in general"? Don't you think that's a bit exaggerated? I personally am an animal lover of all sorts, and I think snakes are beautiful in their own amazing, unique way. Many people own snakes because they're fascinating, not because they're weird.

....Why the hell did your neighbors allow their pet rabbit outside? I mean, it's partially a YDI because you let your snake get out, but if the neighbors had intentionally let their rabbit outside...well...that's kind of a TDI. This is a bummer all around though. Poor bunny.

Do YOU own a bunny? If you don't, then you have no right to say the bunny owners deserved it. It's common to let our pet rabbits outside to play, stretch their legs, bathe in the sun, or dig around (if you permit such behavior). They can't stay cooped up inside all the time.

Yes, but it should be in a pen (they make really good ones these days, they come enclosed so this type of thing doesn't happen) if not in a pen then you should be supervising, even if it's just sitting on the grass reading a book to keep an eye on said bunny. Leashes should not be used, rabbits are prey animals and can take fright easily, injuring their spines and causing horrendous internal injuries and even death.

its totally normal to have pet rabbits outside. im a vet tech, i know. YDI for letting the snake get out.

Vet Tech does not mean you know everything. Hell, even vets don't know everything about small animals (which is why I take my Guinea Pigs to a specialised Exotic Vet). Just because it's 'normal' for you doesn't mean it's right. Most responsible rabbit/guinea pig owners recognise the dangers of keeping small animals outside and it's now the 'norm' in America to keep them inside, this mentality is slowly changing in the UK and Australia where it's becoming more and more common to see them being kept indoors as well which is fantastic because both countries have extreme weather (both cold and heat which can easily kill these animals, Guinea Pigs can die from Heat Stroke at just 30C, it can reach 44C+ some summer days in Australia and 0 or below in some regions).

OOOOOOOOOOOO - a vet TECH. Well la-dee-dah! Bow down to the expansive knowledge we are privileged to have here today on fmylife.com. And how many years of graduate school did you attend for that?
