I have the same problem. my siblings r like eff u but luckily my parents understand. and most intelligent people when I explain why I need a hip replacement at age 31, (among other things). seriously, nothing hurts more than people thinking I'm a liar, especially my siblings. id give u a thousand agree votes bc I know how much it hurts. so if u guys still think the op is faking, it's really happening to me so it's not impossible.
tell them to go **** themselves
You ignorant ***** think that depression is nothing more than over-dramatic, over-emotional wimp-assed bitches? Seriously? The fact is that Depression IS an illness. This is from my personal experience, what I'm about to tell you. I'm fifteen and I've gone through depression four times. And I can tell you, no matter how horrible and worthless you feel when you're depressed, you never truly grasp how down you were until you start going up again. From my own experience, depression makes you feel like there is no point in you walking on the Earth. Like you have no future, no potential for anything. And what's the point of saying you've been through it (just so people will listen to you) if two seconds later you put the rest of us down for talking about it? You haven't really been through it if all you think it is is dramatization.
Alcoholism is considered a disease as is any addiction. Same as depression/anxiety.
If you have some gay psychosomatic illness then I agree with her. If your own family thinks you are faking then it's a pretty good sign that it's all in your head.
**** her, us disabled people would love to be able to do things that normal people do. As a sufferer of Duchenne muscular dystrophy and having been told I was faking it, I know how it feels
I'm right where you are, OP. I got my doctor to write a note that confirms that I do have a chronic illness. I mailed the copies to my relatives and I don't get any shit from anyone anymore. It's worth a shot. Hope things improve for you!

What specific debilitating disease? Should have said the name. Then I could have googled it.
#06 - The OP said they suffer from a DISEASE, not a DISABILITY. There are numerous debilitating diseases out there that would prevent someone from going to work or school. It's very tactless of your aunt to have said something like that to you, particularly if you've been to the doctor. This situation is a hard FML, because it all depends on how the OP is acting... Still, FYL for having to deal with someone who can be so rude.
