Better to break the news to her now over Ben and Jerry's and romantic comedies rather than have her figure it out alone.That's what best friends are for; there for the good, bad and ugly.

That's a terrible thing to say! Do you even know what emotional trauma people go through which leads them to cut? I am personally very happy that she's stopped, and I am sure her friend will be able to help her in this situation.

As someone who self injures, telling my parents wouldn't be helpful in the slightest. It would just make me not trust you anymore and very angry. So OP just support her as best as you can and let her know you're there for her, through the easy and bad times.

Listen, if my best friend self-harmed I would totally make sure she got help. There is no ******* way I wouldn't do everything so that she could get better and not have to resort to cutting to be able to cope. If that means telling her parents and her getting mad at me, so ******* be it. I would rather see my friend be happy and be pissed that I told than see her miserable and hurting herself.

Telling her parents probably won't get her help though. My parents knew i was depressed, i was seeing a counselor every week. But i still cut. The only reason i stopped cutting is because i got pregnant.

Well, if it makes her stop cutting herself, maybe it's not a bad thing she doesn't know that he's gay yet. Also, she should find some help for that cutting, she'll regret it when she's older..
