By friend loves a gay guy... - 23/09/2013 20:49 - United States - Cincinnati

Today, my best friend told me that she no longer wants to cut herself because now she's madly in love with a guy in our school. She doesn't know that he's gay. FML

Better to break the news to her now over Ben and Jerry's and romantic comedies rather than have her figure it out alone. That's what best friends are for; there for the good, bad and ugly.

That's a terrible thing to say! Do you even know what emotional trauma people go through which leads them to cut? I am personally very happy that she's stopped, and I am sure her friend will be able to help her in this situation.

well op I guess its back to the cutting board

Im so sorry op! I know this isn't a good thing to do but, I'd say don't tell her about him being gay. Let her figure it out. If she's happy let her be. Whatever gets her to stop cutting is good.

Except that she needs to learn to be happy and cope on her own and not depend on others for her own happiness and well-being. This could lead to a vicious cycle that won't resolve the issues she has that lead her to cutting.

More like **** her life. The hell has this got to do with you.

OP, tell your friend that the guy is not interested, not gay. That way she hopefully will not start cutting herself again. I think that this the best way to deal with this.

This is a disaster waiting to happen.. Try to shift her attention from that guy to another guy.

Sounds like your best friend rides the crazy train.

Forget about finding another guy for her, find her help! I'm going to assume you guys are teenagers, she's young enough now if you get her the proper help, to learn to cope with her problems effectively. Also, if she hasn't already caused a lot of scarring, getting her help will prevent her from having to carry a lifetime of horrible scars around. I cut for ten years and if someone had gotten me help sooner, I might have learned how to deal with things better and my arms and legs wouldn't look the way they do. Do your friend a favor and get her the help she needs and is more than likely too afraid to ask for.

I personally think that a better friend might express some concern for her life to her parents or someone trustworthy who may help...
