Tell him/her a co-worker (no snitching on who) told you that you might be fired so you just wanted to start looking at other jobs to be safe.

my phone opens apps by mistake all the time. I'm sure it won't be a big deal unless you allow it to impact your behavior at work

I know it looks pretty bad, but it's not really a big deal, unless he's an asshole. If he's more of a serious, professional type of guy, he'll probably pretend he didn't see it.

Phones **** pretty much everything up: jobs, relationships, and even other conversations. Hopefully, your boss didn't take it the wrong way, and you can explain it.
