A lot of black people have a certain distinctive tone to their voice (I have no idea how to describe it, but I can hear it clearly in my head as I try to imagine it). I'm in no way trying to be offensive, and I apologize if anything said here causes offense, but it's true. Very often you can tell somebody is black because of their tone/accent (not always of course). Or at least, I can. And I should stress that this is NOT a bad thing or me trying to say all black people sound the same, because they don't, but there is definitely something something about the voice of a person of color that can sound distinctive. HOWEVER, I don't understand how this would be a problem or how someone could sound 'too black'. Unless it's a very thick foreign accent that's not very comprehensible over the phone, in which case they sound foreign, not 'black'. I'm seriously trying to wrap my head around what the heck these customers meant because I trust that OP has the sense to be professional and articulate considering they work in a call centre (so any stereotypical racial phrases that OP may or may not use in their day to day life would not crop up anyway). So just... multiple people get connected to a black person on the phone and are so upset by it they have to make a complaint? Like that is their actual complaint, they're just butthurt that OP didn't sound white enough for them? Aye, white people... :( This comment wasn't meant to be a rambling novel, but just. Eh. This irked me.
damn bro, where do you work? customer service for the Klu Klux Klan headquarters in Savannah?
Sounds like you have a pretty solid EEOC complaint.
It means you got sole baby.
The word you're looking for is spelled S. O. U. L. I highly doubt anyone has the bottom of a shoe deep inside of them. Unless they pissed off Red Foreman.
lmao, that's ridiculous.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaa. Omg. Im dying!!!! Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. This. This is funny
What the actual **** is 'too black'? Your boss and those customers need a crowbar to pull their heads out of their asses.
if i had a nickel for every time i got called a white bitch on the phone(and this is over goddamned pizza mind you) then i'd be worth several million. this was at least once a shift for nearly 10 years. so not all black people have an instantly recognizable tone. that being said the complaints about being racist died a pretty quick death when the irate customers came into the store asking for me. lol
#78 I know i wouldn't actually have millions of dollars but it was mighty damn irritating to be called a racist every ******* shift just because you didn't like the fact you couldn't get a delivery. -_- at least the AM knew they were full of shit.

That's a bit racist in the first place. And you can't help the way you sound. Your boss is a douche.
Talk about a weird comment and it wasn't all too kind. You can't control how you sound. Your boss should definitely know that
