Today, my boss at my new call center job said he'd gotten complaints about me. Apparently I sound "too black" and it's "upsetting" some of our customers. I don't know what that even means, but my boss said I need to "tone it down or we're gonna have some problems". FML

That's a bit racist in the first place. And you can't help the way you sound. Your boss is a douche.

Talk about a weird comment and it wasn't all too kind. You can't control how you sound. Your boss should definitely know that

I think you meant "oh no he dint"...

Hopefully you just laughed it off. That's seriously not cool.

My manager always asks me if the person on the phone was white or black... I'm white and he's black and I didn't even understand what he meant at first. People don't sound like a certain race to me.

Have him monitor you do a call maybe I mean otherwise you are doing your job...

Omg WTF IS UP WITH THE RACISM. Jezus man this world is ****** up!

Wtf!? Is this an accurate reflection of Americas employment practices? If anyone did that in Australia the boss would risk losing their job & it would be taken to fair work or the human rights commission.

You forgot to add the four Z shaped snaps at the end. Oh, and the acrylic nails, too.

Maybe you should ASK not AXE to hear one of your calls.

Location: Texas. Pretty much explains everything right there.

I am a native Texan, and I am always amazed by how many people believe that Texas is extremely racist. I lived up North briefly, and I heard and witnessed far more racism in that particular state than I've ever seen here in Texas. Of course, every state has its negatives, and there are racists everywhere, including some in Texas, but living in the South does not always make some more likely to be a racist. Yes, Texas was one of the original seven states to secede, but that does not mean that it, or any other formerly Confederate state, is still defined by racism 150 years after the Civil War. Additionally, if racism is defined as making judgments and having beliefs against a certain people or group just because of their race or origin, how does your comment make you any different from the people you are judging? You are judging Texas based on a stereotype.
