Today, my boss called me to say that I've been slow at work this week and that I will be replaced if I don't pick up the pace. That would be understandable, if I didn't have a broken ankle and pneumonia. FML

My boyfriend had a really bad cold and a sprained ankle, and his boss says "well, you're not dying right? You start at 3" I get so pissed off at bosses like this, this is the reason workers suffer panic attacks and anxiety.

Try to get a doctor's note to give to your boss

They said the same thing to me at my job except I was pregnant lol

The employment laws in America scare me, there seems to be no care or compassion for the worker. I'm genuinely sorry for you guys.

when used. correctly and not mis - interpreted by the idiots on here they keep employees and employers safe with a slight slant for the employers. This is because they pay more in taxes and instead they target high ranking employees and not corporate entities.

If op is not well he shouldn't be at work. You wouldn't want the pilot of the airplane youre on coming to work and only performing at 80%. You wouldnt want the pharmacist filling your prescription to be a little off. If you were managing a factory you wouldt be very happy about one person slowing the whole line down to 75% of their production goals. There are plenty of jobs were being sick/slow is worse than not being there at all. How about air traffic controllers. Crane operators. The guy working on brakes at mineke.

To be honest being you being injured or sick is not your bosses problem. If you are that bad off that you can't do your job properly you should be home getting better. Think about if others count on your job. You are screwing them.

Being injured and sick is not likely to be something that the OP is at fault for. And yes, OP should be home and getting better, but an unexpected illness and injury is hardly justifiable cause to fire someone. How would you like it if you were fired for a sprained ankle and pneumonia?

I would not go to work with a sprained ankle and pnemonia. How would you like it if the fireman who showed up to help pull your family out of a fire showed up to work with a sprained ankle and pnemonia.

Well, on the bright side, if you die, his ass is fired.

Depending on your job get a Dr note to have them out you on light duty.

You shouldn't be at work anyways if you have pneumonia.
