Today, my boss told me to cut my long hair. After coming back to work with a clean cut hairstyle, he apparently thought I was the new guy, and said I was going to be trained by "The long-haired girly-looking idiot." FML

The boss will look awfully dumb when your "trainer" doesn't show up to train you. FYL bro

Go buy a wig then train yourself.

This is where you hold a conversation with yourself in front of the boss, see if he notices.

I hope I live to see the day when forcing a man to cut his hair for a job simply because he's male is seen as gender discrimination.

In some instances, it is considered gender discrimination. Wasn't there a story about some school making a boy cut his long hair and the parents went bat-shit crazy because of it?

Hadn't heard that one. I did hear of women trying to sue a company because the dress code required women (but not men) to wear high heels to work. Don't remember how that turned out, though.

I had an old friend who had to cut is long hair to keep his job. The bad thing was that he actually looked really nice with long hair, and not weird or nasty looking like some guys do (including me haha). What's even worse is that the job was a clerk at Staples... he was a nice guy but an idiot at times.

And this is why conforming to gender roles is bullshit. That being said, turning up to work looking like a Rocky Horror character probably isn't the best idea. But a sexy ponytail isn't anywhere near that. mmm, male ponytails... *is distracted*

Right? I don't see why it's a problem as long as he keeps it clean and professional looking while at work (this applies to women as well).

Yea, he was native American and was growing his hair out due to his custom.

23- If I owned that company I would have changed the dress code so it required women AND men to wear heels. XD

I would love to see that. But only if I could show up for work in flats. hahaha

#16 - And have him think his new recruit is crazy?

You're missing something here, it was the same guy.

Yes. He did. Either that, or the boss is not only an idiot, but a blind one at that.

A friend of mine cut his hair short, I had a hard time recognizing him and we played pool or volley ball every weekend for years .

Have you tried explaining to your boss that you are that person? And then explain that he just made himself and the company liable for a huge lawsuit?

What's he gonna sue for? "your honor he made me cut my hair. I want my 12 dollars back!"

He could have been discriminated against, or even say that he felt targeted.

56, look up gender (sex) discrimination. It says it is defined as discrimination based on ones sex in the purposes of hiring, firing, training and pay raises. Op was threatened with none of the above, or at least it wasn't stated in the fml. However, what his boss said was a double thing to say

1. Pretend you are the new guy. 2. When the new guy shows up, ask him to train you. 3. Show your boss you know more on day 1 than your incompetent trainer. 4. He'll get fired and you can immediately rise to your old job. 5. Restart career as "short-haired girly-looking idiot." 6. ????? 7. Profit

That's gender discrimination. But because you (presumably) don't have boobs, it's unlikely you'll get anywhere on that argument. Men can't say they've been discriminated against, physically abused by women or raped without being looked down upon and laughed at. It's pretty sickening to be honest.

I'm sure your point is somewhat valid, but anyone would be embarrassed to come out and talk about being raped. Furthermore, it happens much less often to men by women than it does to women by men. I hear men complain about gender discrimination all the time and they are taken seriously such as in the case of not wanting to be expected to be the person who makes the "first move," pays for dates, provides for the entire household, etc. But yeah, nothing wrong with the guy wanting to have long hair. His boss is a dick!

RedPillSucks 31

men do get raped by other men. the stigma is so bad that it often goes unreported

#32 stated by -women,- so that's irrelevant (though shitty).

I recently shaved all my long hair off, and people still don't recognize me. I know that feel, bro

I would've quit. **** cutting my hair. I've been growing it out for 3 years!
