I've had someone tell me to shave my arms as well (which is weird considering my arm hair is blonde and barely noticeable in most lighting). Anyway, it's a ridiculous thing to ask someone to do. It's up to you what you do with your body hair.

I've been shaving mine for 13yrs because I want to, not because anyone asked/told me too. Its my preference to not feel like a bear. I'm not a swimmer either. He is wrong to ask that of you though.
