Well in his defence, presumably he doesn't enjoy her having periods because SHE doesn't enjoy them. I'm not saying he's considering her feelings, but presumably she's cranky, upset and not up for sex or drinking during her period, so why pay to be miserable on your holiday?

I went through the exact same thing. I love the fact that I can rearrange my pills to delay my period as well. But if OP hasn't been on the pill for at least a couple months, she can't really do anything other than work around her period. Canceling the trip was kind of a dick move on the boyfriends part, though if she's not on the pill, she probably would've been pretty miserable on the trip.

His argument should have been, "if the woman ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." Therefore it wouldn't have been a real vacation and rescheduling is the right move here.

Agreed! 90% of a couples vacation is based on hot, wild out-of-country sex. What's the point of spending all that time and money if you can't enjoy it right.
