Holding her down would be like suddenly dropping a bucket of spiders on someone with arachnophobia. The idea of desensitization is good, but you don't force them into an overwhelming situation and expect it to be "therapy." All you can expect is to give them a heart attack. Either OP's bf is ignorant or an immature jerk. Make sure he knows what OCD really is, that it's not just some quirk. If he still fiddles around, I'd rethink your relationship.
I'm really glad you mentioned that. Having severe and treatment-refractory OCD myself, sometimes people think that preventing me from doing something or forcing me into an anxiety producing situation is 'helping'. Exposure therapy can work very well- but only when it's being properly administered and the patient is willing to participate. Otherwise, it's just incredibly distressing.
First, your boyfriend is a d***, second if it's that crucial you need to be on meds. Meds can help with the OCD.
