Raven3434 tells us more.
Just to put it out there, he had complete kidney failure. He is now on dialysis. His kidneys are toast and he needs a transplant. Apparently it was caused by years of high blood pressure. His kidneys were in trouble before we even met. And I had been encouraging him to go to the doctor. He had seen a few doctors, but nobody diagnosed him until his lungs were full of fluid. He can't drink too much fluid because he can't get rid of it without dialysis. He cant eat too many fruits or vegetables because he can't process out the extra phosphate and potassium. He also has to limit his sodium, but that wasn't part of my original post. Just wanted to clarify things. Thanks to all of you out there who offered support. Its been a really hard time.

YDI. Are you a doctor? No? Then you shouldn't be giving medical advice.
Can you read? No? Then you shouldn't comment on this FML. They JUST found out he has kidney failure. Is he going to go to the ******* doctor if he thinks he just has something minor? I never go to the doctor when I'm feeling ill - I drink more water, drink tea, and increase my fruits and veggies. It's called common sense, not medical advice, you ******* doorknob. Next time your mother gives you advice when you're sick, I dare you to say the same shit to her.
You're like my mom. Water doesn't cure everything. kthxbye.
it is not her fault at all. easy for u guys to say and blame but she was jst bein nice by makin him eat more veg and drink more water cos we kno for the fact that those two are good for our body. no1 deserve anything, this is life and things happen. hope ur bf gona b fine
aw that's sad :( you couldn't have known though good luck to your boyfriend
FYL :/
This was one of the few illnesses that he could have where water and veggies were bad for him. How the hell were you supposed to know? Definitely not YDI.
We should applaud this FML, because it's one of the few FMLs these days that sound legitimate. It's common sense to increase liquids when you're sick unless told otherwise by a doctor, but the key detail is the spinach salads. See, no one aside from someone with kidney problems or someone in the medical field would know that spinach is bad for a kidney. It's high in oxalate, which can cause kidney stones. Thank-you, Raven. A real FML!
For all I know OP, you did the right thing. Who were you to know it was Kidney failure, hopefully he should recover and be alright!

it not your fault, in normal circumstances, that's a good thing
You must feel like shit. FYL. But it's not your fault.
