Today, my boyfriend gave me a card for my birthday and told me to open it 10 minutes after he'd gone; I waited for 5. In the card was written, "It's not working out, but here's $20." FML

Today, it was my birthday and everyone in the office chipped in to buy me a card, and nothing but a card. It had a pre-written message on it and a space to write "Love, *insert name*" where everyone signed their names. The "Love" was crossed out and replaced with "From". FML

They have a new hallmark card. It has a timer so that boyfriends can set it in two modes. Basically if you had waited 10 minutes, the card would have expressed how much he loved you and all. But since you opened it 5 minutes earlier, it was programmed to "dump" mode and deposit 20 dollars. :) :) I kid of course. That sucks though what happened. You should use that 20 dollars to buy him a card and leave 10 bucks for him.

I would've been suspicious if I had to wait until he was gone to check the content anyway, it's bound to be bad news. The fact that he left money is idiotic, unless you want to use it on a devious plan to get back at him of course!

Wow, what a total dick, honestly, it was her birthday! and he couldn't do it in person? and waiting ten minutes? its not about trust, its as if he was trying to run away from fireworks that he just lit. And i agree, giving money? that IS like paying a *****, and 20 dollars isn't a lot then!! I dont understand how guys can think this way, I cant believe other guys commented on here saying he is a genius, etc.

whats with all the pettiness. Sure he's a jerk for dumping you LIKE THAT, but he probably had a reason even if he is too cowardly to say it to your face. On the plus side, he gave you 20 bucks (and if you're still sad about it, take that money and buy some emo music on itunes). He could have just said that it wasn't working and left it at that. Best advice is to move on, and forget him.
