Today, my boyfriend of a couple of weeks mixed up my name with his ex-wife's name. After he said it, he looked at me and said, "You knew it was going to happen." FML

It was bound to happen. It's only a couple of weeks. Unless he still has feelings for her I wouldn't worry about it.

Well of course it was going to happen - he was married to her. So he's used to saying that name when he's talking to his significant other - it's habit. And you've only been together a few weeks. If he's constantly saying it or still doing it a couple months down the road, or during sex, then you can worry about it a little. And even if it was during sex - once is a silly mistake - if it keeps happening, then give it a little thought.

If it's a similar sounding name, you can't blame him

Since it's early in the relationship, give him a break. Call him on it (nicely) if it persists more than a couple of months.

I called my fiance "dad" a few weeks ago. I don't know what is worse

Everyone is so quick to tell OP to leave..

It's not uncommon to mix people's names up though... Get over it.

That's his ex wife. ydi. It's only natural for him to accidentally refer to you as the woman he had just been married to a few weeks before

old habbits die hard I guess. If he has been married for years nd just got a divorce then dnt blame him for one slip up...now if he keeps on doing it he still has feelings for his ex.

Wow. Looks like somebody needs to get over their ex before moving onto a new relationship.

My dad's done this with his new girlfriend. Don't worry about it, people mix up names all the time.

I don't get why people get so offended over name mix ups. My mom often confuses my brother's, my dog's, and my names. No, they don't sound alike. Yes, she still loves us. Slip ups happen. A lot. Deal.
