Today, my boyfriend of over 2 years said he wants to get married before he leaves for basic training. Not because he loves me, but because he'll get paid more if he's married. This is the only time he's been excited about marriage. FML

Wow. My husband and I just got married today. He's also in the military. And he could care less about the money. I mean yea, it's going to help with bills for our house and stuff but we got married because we love each other. And let me tell you. being apart is the hardest thing ever. so if he's only thinking about the money don't bother in putting yourself through a long distance relationship. seriously.

I say tell him you want a big wedding and want to spend like over 250 k, then see what he says. It'll probably end up costing him more than what he'll earn if he marries you. If he says that's okay with him, plan the wedding then away on the day of saying you discovered your a lesbian LOL.

I'm married to a man in the military and FYI the money isn't that great ..he makes enough to pay all the bills plus just a lil extra for groceries etc so idk why he thinks he is going to get tons of money!

You'd be surprised at how common this is in the military. He gets paid more, you get benefits, and he doesn't have to do as much ridiculous crap at the company since he's married. I still say do it of you truly love him because otherwise you'll be miserable away from home.
