Today, my boyfriend threw out my old voicemail recorder, thinking it was junk. My father passed away years ago. I kept a recording of the last voicemail he'd left me on it so I'd always remember his voice. FML

This is why i hate it when people throw out my shit without asking first

This is actually really depressing. Sorry OP. I hope you can continue to remember your father in a different way.

Annoying though it is, it's probably better for you. in what mood would you be in to decide "y'know what I wanna do right now..." Throwing away thing from lost loved ones is always difficult, but is very necessary to heal.

No it's not. I've kept jewelry from my nan and look at photos and all sorts. I've "healed". It's perfectly fine to have such memories. You don't go throwing out home movies when someone passes away. It's called remembering them!

Not necessary at all. Mementos are fine.

You either let it go, or you probably need to stab him.

So sorry for your loss OP im sorry you lost that recording

I sort of hope that you hadn't told him, or else he would be quite evil.

That's terrible op, I'm sorry for your loss(es). Hopefully your boyfriend at least made an attempt to retrieve it from the trash

Omg , I know he didn't know but damn , something's you just CAN'T look past .

Omg that's so sad. He should've asked first.

Why would he throw out YOUR stuff if he wasn't sure you didn't want it? Even if you live together, how hard would it be to ask first?
