Today, my boyfriend threw out my old voicemail recorder, thinking it was junk. My father passed away years ago. I kept a recording of the last voicemail he'd left me on it so I'd always remember his voice. FML

This is why i hate it when people throw out my shit without asking first

This is actually really depressing. Sorry OP. I hope you can continue to remember your father in a different way.

If your bf knew what was on the recorder but still threw it out - what an ass. You shouldn't be with someone so inconsiderate. If your bf had no clue what was on the recorder - it still sucks, he still shouldn't have tossed it without asking first but I can't help but wonder why you never told him how important it was, what the recorder had on it.

I understand your need to keep it. I have an old answering machine I don't use anymore that I won't throw out because it has message on it from my Grandmother not long before she died checking to see if me and my family got home safe from her house. I used to listen to it sometimes just to hear her voice again. I'm really sorry for your loss OP.

What a bunch of douches for clicked YDI

Call the company responsible for hauling your trash and find out where it was taken. Hunt it down. It's not gone before it is destroyed.

Definitely worth digging through trash for!!!!

I would have killed him and made him go get it back!!!

Just make sure he gets it back n then kill him :)

On the bright side you won't be stuck in the past

His voice and message will always be in your heart. I bet you know every word.

Just in case you get it back http://m.cnet.com/news/transfer-memorable-voice-mails-to-your-computer-with-a-simple-audio-trick/57449803?ds=1 This will transfer voicemail to computer

Some asshole stole my backpack when I was at an amusement park in high school. Not only did that have my diabetes supplies in it, but it also had a cellphone, which had a voicemail from my mom. The same mother who died barely a year earlier. That recording was one of the best traces of my mother's voice. But hey, I hope the thief enjoyed their new phone! Dick.

What the hell is a voicemail recorder? An answering machine? Or something different? I've never heard that term before.
