Today, my boyfriend threw out my old voicemail recorder, thinking it was junk. My father passed away years ago. I kept a recording of the last voicemail he'd left me on it so I'd always remember his voice. FML

I have a answering machine with my several of my gmas last messages on it. my whole family loves to listen to it at christmas eve, which we always used to have at her house, my whole family would be devasted to lose that. its not neccessary to get rid of these things to move on, i've moved on, its not like i sit in my room replaying the tape over and over, but it is nice to have on occasion.

I'm sorry OP, loss is an awful feeling. Is it too late to check the trash/dumpsters for the recorder? As for the boyfriend- I once allowed a BF to move in with me. Soon after, he cleared out a lot of my stuff to make room for his friend to move in. The take over had begun. It may not be true with everyone, but "my" Guy's disregard for personal property extended into his disregard for personal space and me. He was like a weed, driving me out of my own home, bringing in everything of his own, ridding the place if me and my things.
