Today, my brother deleted all traces of the novel I've been working on for three years from my laptop. The reason? When I was born I "stole all of Mum and Dad's attention." He's 24. FML

Today, after 3 years of writing a murder mystery novel that I was really proud of, my dad stole my notebook. He mistook it as my diary and turned it in to the police and apparently I can't have it back because it may be used as evidence. Some of the stories were inspired by real events. FML

Today, I woke up from a nap to find my little brother playing some games on my phone. A few hours later I come to find he had deleted all 500 pictures from my trip to Europe last month. He needed more space to download the games. Mom says he's too young to understand what he did wrong. He's 14. FML

Today, my little sister got mad at me because I wouldn't let her read my IM conversation. I took a nap and when I woke up, my laptop was gone. She took it on a trip to her grandparents' house, six hours away. Nude pictures of me and my paper due tomorrow are on the laptop. FML

Today, I found my brother tampering with my laptop. He had changed the entire settings, in ways I don't even know how to fix. I finally had to get my mom to threaten him to change it back to its original setting. I'm 15. He's six and can barely get dressed by himself. FML

Today, I finally finished typing up a story I had been working on for about 7 months, saved it on my computer and left to hang with friends. Came home later to find my dad had sold my laptop in order to pay his phone bill. My hard work is now gone. FML

Today, I fell asleep while using my laptop. The next thing I know, it's 8am and my dad is screaming at me for posting "u skank-ass cunt-face" on my mom's Facebook timeline. I never made that post, but he won't believe me. My asshole brother, meanwhile, can't stop smirking at me. FML

Oh geez. FYL, I can't even begin to imagine how livid I would be if somebody deleted my novel, particularly for such a pathetic reason. Your brother needs a serious punching. And therapy. Hopefully you'll be able to get it back.

Wow, that really sucks. I wouldn't say YDI for not backing it up in this situation, because your brother has some serious issues and anyone with even a semblance of maturity wouldn't do something like that. But not having it backed up probably isn't smart, and you never know when something else could happen, like your hard drive dying or something. In which case I'd be less sympathetic. So you really should back stuff up more often or make a hard copy if it's that important to you, and add a password to your laptop if you don't have one.

looks you got some more material for you novel. you know the one you have been working on for 3 years. maybe uh incorporate some real life expierencrs into it. everybody learns that the heros journey isn't always a happy one. oh I look forward to reading it. let me guess the title is "faster then the speed of love"
