Today, my brother had his fiancée over to meet the whole family. We were having a great time with her, and my mother gushed to her that she was like the daughter she never had. I'm her daughter. FML

^ You mean, "It's 'fiancée.'" I agree with those who say don't worry about it. The phrase is mostly idiomatic these days. I think even my mom has used it with my fiancée, and I have a sister my mom loves dearly.

Its easy to understand, but difficult to explain. U r your own person. U have your own personality and act a certain way. U r the type of daughter ur mother DID have. Ur future sister-in-law may be different. She would be the daughter ur mother did NOT have. Either way she meant it tho, FYL.
