I volunteer at an animal shelter where all the pets have to be spayed or neutered before they can be adopted. There was one dog, Serena, who the vet said had already been spayed. Then one morning a volunteer came in to check on the dogs, only to find Serena nursing puppies.

My cat was the runt of the litter. We took her to get fixed, but a month after that, she went into heat. We took her back to the vet and they found what looked like a second set of ovaries, so they removed them, too. She still gets all squirrelly if you pet her a specific way and secretes some sort of musk, but we try not to do that, because the smell is God-awful.
