Today, my dad paid for plane tickets for my brother’s girlfriend and her two kids so they could go to the family reunion on the other side of the country. He refused to buy my ticket though, because I "should’ve planned better." I lost my job due to Covid and used my savings to pay rent and bills. FML

Today, I found out that my dad paid for my sister's friend's airplane ticket so she could attend my sister's wedding. I would have been there myself, but I couldn't afford the airplane ticket. FML

Today, I called my dad to ask why my university tuition had not been paid. He said that my school was "too expensive" and he "couldn't afford it." He then asked me if I would take in his mail while he was away. He was taking his new wife to Hawaii; apparently it's beautiful this time of year. FML

Today, my dad and his girlfriend left for a 10-day vacation. They booked an expensive beach-house. I'm an A grade student and just last month, he stopped paying my school fees because he 'couldn't afford it.' Oh, and he's making me feed the dog while he's away. FML

:( sorry. if you didn't even want to go anyway, just being left out is hurtful. especially with your dad inviting someone not even family. growing up, my dad was the opposite. he would make me go on every vacation until i moved out. even though i sometimes didn't want to go, i would've felt bad if he didn't even ask.

The point of the FML is that op's father is treating everyone but him, including someone who's not technically family, to a vacation. Op might not even want to go, but being deliberatley left out of a family event must ******* sting.
