Today, my dog got out of the house. I was running after him and remembered the old "pretend you're hurt" trick. I got on the ground, and cried out as if I was hurt. My dog just kept running. FML

WalnutGaming tells us more.

Hey guys. I did end up finding my dog. For those who said get a treat or meat, my dog would be way down the street by that time. My dog had stopped to "say Hi" to my neighbor and her dog. I used this method because my dog was trained to come to me when I lay down, but something made him run instead. In training meat was put on the ground and I was put on the ground and my dog chose me first over the meat. He is a good dog really, this is his first actual stunt hes pulled. Anyway, just thought it'd be nice to fill you guys in.

Are you sure your dog isn't a bitch? Get it? Haha...no? Okay :( Hope he came back! It took us awhile to train our dog not to run.

Dogs are extremely intuitive. I think they can sense when something is fake or not- kind of like how a lot of dogs won't bark at new people when their owners are with them, but then they'll attack a burglar. Hope you eventually caught him/her, OP!

I think the old "YOU WANNA TREAT?" trick would've worked much better.

The dog chose trick, not treat.

This made me laugh and go like "awww" at the end

Made me laugh harder than I probably should have

Hahaha. Should have just kept running op. That almost never works.

That trick only works on parents. And some scavengers.

Does that trick ever really work? I've had some success with the running in opposite direction to get them to chase me then grabbing as they caught up, but not much. Of course, huskies are bred to run, so on the rare occasion that Sid gets out, it's usually 5 people chasing him using bikes, feet and slowly behind, the car to block traffic so he doesn't get hit. Sometimes if he slows down before caught and sees the car, we can coax him in since he loves car rides so much. We also have a GPS tracker on his collar so we can see where he's headed if he gets out of sight. Yup, not my first husky.

Wow, you live in an awesome neighbourhood!

It's family chasing the dog. Usually the same two that visit he gets out on. Last time a neighbor freaked cause he chased her cat up a tree. He is cat friendly. He just likes to play. Lol

I find it interesting that you mention its not your first husky. Are you implying you've been unable to train basic obedience in several dogs?

No I'm implying that I know the breed. Many professional trainers won't even touch northern breeds because they are next to impossible to deal with in certain situations. Other then the occasional bolt when he gets excited, which is after all what they were bred to do, he is very well behaved and listens. He just turned two. Huskies stay puppy hyper until about 6. My foster girl could be 13 and has more energy then most puppies at the dog park. This is why people need to research breeds before buying them because they are oh so pretty. I wouldn't need to foster to save them if people understood that not all breeds behave the same. Please, never get a husky if you want a perfectly behaved dog 100% of the time. Finding one like that is beyond rare and no amount of obedience training fixes it. :) talk to the rescues, they will tell you. Lot do a google search. But for a notoriously hyper and into everything breed, both of mine and all of my fosters by the time they left me are better behaved then most of the children I see out in public. So I must be doing something right or they wouldn't place them with me :)
