The rule is one ounce per pound for chocolate poisoning, at least for milk chocolate. Even baker's chocolate is generally one ounce per 9 pounds. But having worked at a vet clinic, I am surprised the vet didn't do anything. And actually, the vet does more than give the dog a shot to make it throw up, at least they do at the clinic I worked at. They also give it a charcoal substrate to filter the toxins out. It does throw the substrate up, but it's more than just vomiting. @Sika: Not just small dogs can die from that. We saw a retriever come from the emergency clinic who had almost died after eating 80 ounces of milk and dark chocolate. She could barely walk even the next day.
OP: well sure your vet said that, she want's to know if you're stupid enough to actually call her. i bet she can sell you sugarpills for your dog for 100$ a pop. good luck in life. oh and call us if they come out the other end ok ?
YDI for buying hersheys... have you no tastebuds?!
who gives a ******* shit!!?? no one cares abt your ******* dog
I've been there and it's not good
Why would u leave chocolate where your dog could get it? U r sooo damn lucky that your dog is still alive. Next time put the chocolate where your dog can't get it or you will most likely have a dead dog.

dude, you are sooo lucky the dog is alive
...and the wait begins... Good thing she knew how to induce vomiting from all those years as a show dog...
