You remind me of my mother. She took dating WAY WAY WAY to seriously. She wanted "the right guy" or NONE at all. She never found the right guy. She is in a hospice now, waiting to die. Me on the other hand? I Dated For Fun, Confidence, etc., and I kept an open mind. The people I dated didn't have to be the love of my life. The fact that the WORLD did not hinge on the person I was dating took the pressure off and let me and them have more fun. How did that work out? I met the right guy and have been married to my husband now for two happy years. Just sayin' if you approach someone with the intensity of "a person who has not had a real date in over a decade", you will be off-putting. Loosen up a little, try just to go out and have fun with people who look interesting, but may not be "perfect". It takes TIME and Dating to get to know people, not sitting at home stewing about it.
