Today, my elderly neighbor called the police because my cat was in her yard. I now have a citation and a court date. Apparently, there is a leash law for cats in my town, and it is taken very seriously. FML

A leash law...for CATS? Where the hell do YOU live?

Yea... Because moving is that simple.....

Just like divorcing your husband is. I'm honestly worried about how FML commenters attempt to solve their everyday problems.

It's not that simple... You would have to sell your current house, which is not always easy. My father has had his house on sale for 3 years and barely anyone has even checked it out... And on top of that you'd have to find a new house, which can also be difficult.

Trying to leash a cat is like a death wish for any exposed skin.

I like that law. Cats kill too many wild animals.

That bird was totally asking for it! Same for that mouse!

Not to mention, not everyone wants a neighbors cat in their yard. Especially ******** in gardens and sandboxes or risking your dog attacking it. Or hitting them with your car. Or worrying about them trying to keep warm in a car engine. With all the dangers out there, why on earth would one let their cat outside?

43, I hear you. I grew up playing in a sandbox filled with my neighbor's cat shit, and the neighbors adamantly denied that the cat could possibly be theirs. And actually, my biggest problem with unleashed cats is that they DO run where they please... I can't tell you how many times I've slammed on my brakes to avoid killing someone's cat. (And I'm lucky I haven't been rear-ended yet) I don't want to be the person who has to tell someone I killed their pet!

Same. Not to mention they can transmit parasites to unsuspecting people. I love cats, don't get me wrong. If you are going to own a pet though, take responsibility for it. They make cat runs now that you can set up for kitty can still enjoy some sun but be safe at the same time.

It's cruel to keep them inside all the time though, and a lead is horrible too!

Your lucky you just got the citation. I leave traps in my yard for neighborhood cats and when I catch tempi take them to the pound.

Comment moderated for rule-breaking.

Show it anyway

I would just throw the trap in a bucket of water. That's what I do with squirrels that try to get in my attic.

Owned animals Should be kept in a house or cage when not watched. Not left around to Donita own bidding. If a cat ***** and a dog eats the shit the dog has a chance of catching something. Cats are inside animals not outside. Anything that Is in my yard I will do as I please with. It's thenowners fault.

135, I can't take you seriously because of your autocorrect.

That's so wrong, cats are suppose to be out roaming around. I can't imagine my cat being let out and taken to pound.

We don't take them to the pound, we drop them off in the woods about 10-15 miles away from our house.

Get a panther and watch them shit their pants!

And then watch the cops give you another citation! Great!

I dont like neighbor cats roaming free to crap in my garden, spray my car and claw up the rug on my porch. YDI keep your cats in your own yard or stop letting them out

Totally agree, my neighbours' cats always kill birds and leave them in our yard and wreck our garden every year. It reeeaaaallly pisses me off when people are to dang lazy to watch their animals.

There is a cat that roams around my neighborhood and frankly I don't see the problem with it (my dog does, though). It's not hurting anything. I've never seen it cause any damage to any of my property or kill any animals on my yard and I think it's cute to see it sitting there.

There's a feral cat where I live. He eats my cat's food and bullies her into constantly meowing and clawing at the door, window, etc. I have yet to get a clean shot on him.

Sorry for your cat. The cat I was talking about isn't a stray though. From what I gather it's not into bullying other cats either, but I don't follow it around, so...

You'll take it seriously when your cat gets hit by a car or into poisoned by ray food or in a fight with wild animals. Keep your fresking pets inside people.

My cat would rather die than be inside all the time. Plus we can't keep him inside because there's a doggy door and we can't close that because we don't want dog shit and piss all over our house. =_=

142 : Why don't you just teach your animal to ask for the door like everybody else do? And anyway, death is what you cat will get if you just let it roam free outside. Sadly it will probably be at the hands of one of your neighbors that will be sick to clean up after your animals.

Seems like so System of a Down is in order.
