Today, my entire junior class took the ACT. On the last test, a classmate's phone went off, automatically invalidating the whole test. We all have to retake it. FML

Wow, that is a ridiculous rule. At least you know how to get your score dropped if you think you've done poorly

Hmm, you think the person whose cell phone went off would've been posting this FML.

Boo hoo you have to retake the test. F that guy's life, more like. YDI for complaining.

.., that ruined the entire thing? Not just that session? WHY?!?!

Because he could have been texting someone outside the room or someone in another room. There's no real way to tell who he was cheating with so to be safe it invalidates everyone's not just his.

I took it yesterday too. That would have sucked

thts strange...in the UK only the one student gets kicked out

Because it's a phone, they invalidate all tests. This is because the person could have been texting to send/receive answers. Would it be better to try and find who they were texting? Yes. But this strict rule is to prevent cheating from happening in the first place

That's crazy! We had to take ours during school too, but they only voided that person's test.

Now that's some ol' bullshit.
