Today, my family and I ran into an older man my parents knew. He continually asked me questions like do you play football, have you started shaving yet, etc. I thought he was joking. He told my parents I had grown into quite a young man. I am a girl and he wasn't joking. FML

Today, one of my dad's work friends came over. As he was leaving, he complimented my dad on having three "strapping young boys." I informed him that I'm a girl, and I have a hormone imbalance that causes me to have a lot of hair and a deep voice. I guess my dress didn't give him a clue. FML

Today, I had to meet my mother. Being a college student, I decided I was too lazy to shave this morning. She noticed the stubble on my face, and started crying because I'm growing up. I'm 23 years-old. My dad yelled at me for making my mom cry. FML

Today, I brought a boy home for the first time, only to have my dad ask him what his mother's maiden name was. When he answered, my dad exclaimed, "Oh yeah! I think I dated her in high school. I could be your father!" FML

You guys don't know how she dresses or how feminine she looks, so why are you blaming the guy's mistake on the way she presents herself? Maybe he's crazy or blinding or hated her parents and wanted to be an asshole or had previously thought that the couple had a son and didn't want to offend them by suggesting their "son" looked like a daughter. And maybe this girl doesn't want to spend money she may not have on new, more traditionally feminine clothes and doesn't want to wear uncomfortable, constricting undergarments just so old men don't think she's a dude.
