Today, my girlfriend and my parents staged an intervention, and have asked me to go to rehab. What they want me to go to rehab for? World of Warcraft. FML

If your parents AND your girlfriend felt you needed an intervention, then you are spending far too much time gaming. It is an addiction just like drug abuse. Time to take their advice, get some help, and get a life. A real life, not an on-line life.

Seriously... Everyone blames the game. Never blame the weak people that plays it. dumb people.

Chances are if your GF thinks you have a problem, you have a problem. And you should be glad she's taking this route instead of dumping your retarded WoW addicted ass.

Is it not possible that OP's gf and family simply THINK OP is addicted? Has OP lost sleep over this game? Is OP alienating himself from others just to play WOW? I think we, like I suspect OP's parents and gf have, are over exxagerating and turning a hobby into an addiction. I wonder if OP will have withdrawal symptoms.

wow ok confucious don't try to draw this away from this kid not being able to socialize with people like normal because he spends all his time in a virtual chatroom.

Confucius? No, I'm anti_average. How did you come to the conclusion that OP is socially awkward? He's adept enough to get a concerned gf apparently.

I understand the point you're making, and you seem to agree that not all gamers are addicts. Doesn't everyone deserve the benefit of the doubt?

haha if he needed an intervention ; im sure he was playing it WAY too much.

Don't let a game take over your life. Video games are fun, yeah, but they shouldn't be the center of your life.

Agreed. Nothing wrong woth gaming but if you are spending the majority of your awake time playing, you need help. It should be a hobby, not a habit. You are damned lucky your gf didn't just dump you.

Part of raiding hardcore is "raid diapers!" Only have to get up once every 4-8 hours! Srsly tho, I play.. I also work 50 hours, am married, have a daughter, build classic gasser era drag cars and volunteer at a daycare.

My boyfriend is pretty lucky. I'm a gamer chick myself, so he doesn't have to worry about such things. Being into computer games doesn't automatically mean you have no life, it's just an interest. I am a fully functioning and useful member of society as well as a level 80 PvP Shadow Priest.

There's nothing wrong with gaming (I've been getting into them a little myself lately), but there are some who take it to an extreme. There is such thing as spending too much time gaming. If it's keeping OP from doing other things that he needs to do or if he's choosing WoW over friends ALL the time, then something might need to be changed...

I had that problem for a longgggggg time. in high school it was an escape from me being an awkward and shy; but then after I continued to play in college, the game consumed me and I ended up not having any "real" friends. This lead to depression etc etc, shit sucked; but I'm better now and I have a wonderful gf so YAY.

Probably has something to do with the fact that you are PvP, no raiding schedule to follow with a strict guild haha. Just saying, its easier to have a life that way

So... if someone -chooses- to play a game over spending time with his girlfriend, it's an automatic addiction? Is someone who chooses to play with his girlfriend over the game addicted to his girlfriend? People do what they want to do and you fucktards have no right to judge them. Just because you think it's a problem doesn't mean it is.

shadow priests rock at pvp but paladins are where it's at.

#20, you had by far the greatest answer to this :-p

He wouldn't be alive if he didn't have a life dumb ass..

I stopped playing about a year ago... it's hard to give up but worth it.

good you deserve it. WOW ruins lives and relationships. Come back to the real world.

looks like its time for you to dump your mount and get an epic mount. lol

tell them to got get some hobbies. and to stop worrying about you.

This is so fake. No lvl 80 paladins would ever have a girlfriend.

my boyfriend is a level 85 shaman and we also spend tones of time together ( I'm not a gamer)

Im a female creature and have a dk and mage and have been playing off and on since vanilla, and was recently joined by my boyfriend:)
