Today, my husband and I agreed that he would name our first born and I would name our second. He's dead-set on naming our child "Raindropp" no matter whether it's a boy or girl. FML

If it's a boy, that child will not survive high school. At least give him a middle name like "Diddy" so he can hide behind a rap pseudonym!

I know twins named Harry and Cherry Hymen. It's pretty awful.

It could be worse.. There was one lady who named her child Temptress. Turns out she saw the name Tempest on Maury, tried to copy it, got it wrong, and only found out what temptress meant after the child was older.

Wow, that is unbelievably idiotic on two levels. First, who gets an idea for their child's name by watching Maury? Second, if you don't know the definition of "temptress" you should NOT be reproducing. Stories like that make me sad for the human race.

They had a story about that in Freakonomics. The Mother liked the actress Tempestt Bledsoe (played Vanessa Huxtable) from the Cosby Show. However she didn't know how to spell Tempestt's name so she ended up accidentally naming her child Temptress. Long story short little Temptress grew up to get in a lot trouble. However the author concluded it had more to do with her environment than her name however it didn't do her any favors. It's like naming your daughter Jezebel or Delilah. However Jason is still a popular name despite the fact in Greek Mythology he was a jerk who dumped his wife after she sacrificed everything for him but Medea is the one with the bad rep. Anyway I wonder if that's the same woman or related to the same woman's daughter in some way. I remember hearing a story about a girl named Female (its pronounced Feh-mah-lay). Story goes the girl's mother thought the hospital had named her already so it just stuck. LOL! However Female grew up just fine and I believe went to college although she constantly has to explain her name. A relative of mine was told the story and thought it was joke until said relative ended up teaching Female. The relative pronounced the girl's name right the first time and the relative said she was extremely happy someone pronounced her name right on the first try. I can relate to that because I've had my name butchered too.

There's a bunch of those that are debunked on snopes.com, including the "Female", "Nosmo King", and "Oranjello" variants. Usually those stories are racist because they're usually told with an "$ETHNIC_GROUP is so dumb" angle to them.

I actually x-rayed a woman named Female ( she pronounced it like tamale with a f ) I thought someone was screwing with me but it really was her name.

The story goes that the parents of Female were Chinese immigrants and couldn't speak much English. Apparently, they saw "female" on the birth certificate and assumed that American nurses named the babies themselves. So, they stuck with Female.

Your husband doesn't want to be responsible for beating his kid so he's going to name him in such a fashion that the other kids will do it for him

School is going to be hell for your child.

He must really want your kid to have a difficult childhood

Yah maybe he had a difficult childhood

If so, you should want a better life for your children...

Hey, at least it's better than the name Tabitha. ( reference to recent FML)
